Collins Booksellers Plans New Horsham Store for October 26
Australian bookstore chain Collins Booksellers is preparing a new location in Horsham, Victoria, with an opening scheduled for 26 October. The store will operate as a locally owned franchise under Wimmera residents Casey Kosch and Lynell Sudholz.
Horsham is a regional centre in western Victoria, and the announcement places the new shop within the chain’s network of locally operated booksellers. The owners’ role is important to the model: the Collins name connects the outlet to a national group, while individual stores are operated by local franchisees.
The expansion was announced in early October, before the planned opening. At that time Collins Booksellers said the Horsham opening would bring the network to thirteen locations in Victoria and twenty-five nationwide. Those figures describe the chain’s projected footprint following the opening, rather than confirmed trading at the new premises.
Independent and locally run bookshops often serve several purposes beyond sales, from helping customers discover unfamiliar authors to providing a physical place for recommendations and conversations about reading. Once open, the Horsham store would provide another regional outlet for trade books and reading recommendations.
As of 20 October, the scheduled date remains in the future. The announcement is therefore a forthcoming opening, not a report that the bookstore has begun trading.
