The Quarto Group has appointed Andrea Fleck-Nisbet president of its U.S. division, effective November 2. Fleck-Nisbet has led the Independent Book Publishers Association since 2022 and will leave the organisation on October 30. At Quarto, she will manage the U.S. team and work alongside U.K. managing director Karine Marko. IBPA has established a transition task force to oversee the search for its next chief executive.
Quarto Appoints Andrea Fleck-Nisbet President of U.S. Division
Andrea Fleck-Nisbet will become president of The Quarto Group’s U.S. division on November 2, moving from the Independent Book Publishers Association, where she has served as chief executive since 2022.
The appointment places her in charge of Quarto’s U.S. team, working alongside U.K. managing director Karine Marko. Quarto Group chief executive Chuk Kin Lau has held the U.S. presidency on an interim basis since Ken Fund retired at the end of 2021.
Quarto’s illustrated publishing programme spans 27 global imprints, including businesses specialising in lifestyle, food, arts and crafts, and children’s books. Fleck-Nisbet brings experience across publishing, distribution, sales, marketing and digital strategy. Her earlier career included 15 years at Workman, as well as roles at Ingram and HarperCollins.
Discussing the appointment with Publishers Weekly, she identified strengthening Quarto’s U.S. market position, developing its publishing brands and coordinating with its U.K. colleagues as priorities.
Her final day at IBPA will be October 30. The association has convened a chief executive transition task force led by board chair Renita Bryant and opened an interest form for potential applicants. The change therefore involves both a new operational leader for Quarto U.S. and a leadership search at the independent publishing association.
